Licence plate covers - Illegal
#21
In my DD, both my plates have the letters slowly peeling off. Soon I will have to buy new plates to avoid getting ticketed or stopped.
Now I m going to spend 30$ I believe to get a new plate. The plate is 6 years old. Both front and rear are peeling and is illegal for me to protect them. So in 6 years I guess I will be buying new plates.

They have a recall warranty for peeling plates but it only covers 5 years I believe.
Their new process of making plates is crap, if my personalized plates ever peel I'll be really pissed, so I try to keep them protected for that reason with covers on both plates. I also put a coat of Menzerna powerlock sealant on them once a year for added protection against water and UV rays.

I'm always willing to help, but my 1.5 garage just doesn't cut it, lol. I can send you the products and have you use them yourself though

London cops pulled over my sister exactly 24 hours after I gave her a set of blue tinted license plate covers, lol. I ran them for years without issue but she wasn't so lucky.

I've had smoked covers on all my cars for years and have never had an issue... but I think cops in London are more lenient about that stuff here.

he, he, I wish. I had one cop that was mesmerized by my license plate - NO TORQQ, he got a good chuckle about it.

So I am EB on Bloor Street headed to Dundas Street West where I signal to make a right. Line up of cars in the left lane including a police cruiser. I am in the rh lane, as I approach he sees me and right away gets in behind me. I make a perfectly legal turn, he follows me and as soon as he makes the turn hits his lights and pulls me over. Keep in mind I am 50. So he basically states that he has pulled me over due to my illegal smoked covers on the S2000. I think he just wanted to run my licence and give me a hard time because I was in a great car . He comes back, states that I have a spotless record (Mainly sheer luck!) and lets me off with a fake ticket which is just a warning. Here is the kicker. It is now in their database as the fake ticket has all my info. So, if I get pulled over again for this BS law, I can now fined with the $115 ticket. When he returns, I state, politely that 1 out of every 3 cars going by has covers. His reply "I pull over as many as I can".
