Mechanic Markham area

Hey

It's almost time for the stook to get it's first real checkup. I have had too many bad experiences with Markham Honda over the years. In the 18yrs of owning my crx only tried them a 3-4 times and it was bad everytime!

My trustworthy mechanic is just fine for the crx but I suspect that he will be out of his league with a stook (heck he even told me he wouldn't check one over when I was in the buying stage).

So, who can I take my car to and not feel screwed over? In the early years I took my crx to formula but have they gone downhill too?

Slowfox, take it to Downtown acura. Steve is a HADA guy and will give you a good deal! I know its not in markham but you could use a nice drive.. :D

I have to drive to either end of the 404/dvp to find a half decent mechanic? :(

What's so complicated about a S2000 that your mechanic wouldn't touch?

Well....the guy is really honest to a fault actually. While he is very honest and can do the basics, he is really not a honda guy.

The crx has never idled as steady since the first time he did the tuneup. CRX was serviced by Formula for the first five years while under warranty, then for the next 7 years by an ex-honda mechanic who started up his own shop (stopped going there when he hired some guy who wasn't as good as he was).

So I could take my chances....

well, what's wrong with it? or is this pre-emptive?

speedstar is great and they're in markham.

many board members have taken their cars there for valve adjustments, fluid changes, clutches, diffs, etc. they're quite capable of performing a "real check-up". they've even done engine swaps.

i see you have a 2005....all it needs is to have all the fluids changed, new filters all around, and a valve adjustment, maybe plugs too (depending on how anal you are). if you need brakes, you need brakes....can't really dilly-dally on that one.

if you've done any of that recently, then you can pick and choose what you want to have done...and they're more than reasonable in comparison to dealer pricing.

they also carry high-end fluids (if that matters to you).
