Default My Dyno experience at APH

I cannot say enough good things about Brian and APH. He was very easy to talk to and answered all of my questions. He was able to tune my car and was in and out in less than a couple of hours. The drivability after my tune has gone over above and beyond my expectations. The car feels great and he has left a very "conservative" tune. I recommend him for all of your tuning needs as im sure a lot of people here also recommend him.

My setup is an AP1 vortech supercharged with supporting mods. The car made 432whp and 254lbft at 17 psi. APH ftw!

Nice.. I was just there to see him too.
Great numbers!

What kind of supporting mods do you have done on top of the supercharger kit?

@d1000rr i guess your basic f.i. supporting mods.
For fuel im running ID 1000cc with blox replacement pigtails (ID ones fail) and walbro 255 drop in pump.

For air, i ditched the vortech box and replaced it with a oversized blox filter and velocity stack. Im also running a ballade 70mm tb and ported im. I know the supercharger is breathing better and i have watched my AIT over the last couple of days prior to my tune. I see around 100-115 deg F. cruising on the hwy and anywhere around 120-145 heatsoaked in traffic. I also run a larger heat exchanger and im also certain that contributes to that.

On the exhaust side i have a 70mm Test Pipe and a matching invidia N1 exhaust.

Im also spinning the blower with a 3.4" pulley.

Aren’t you over spinning the blower with the 3.4” pulley? Stock engine? What octane?

Sorry for all the questions. I was under the impression that 12psi is the max for 91 octane.
Brian does good work

@myflys2k yes i am overspinning the blower. According to vortech's impeller speed calculator, im overspinning by about 4k over what the blower is rated for. I am aware of the risks involved with overspinning and im ok with it, its just a matter of time until ill need a rebuild. This was on a stock motor with 94 pump gas.

I was told the 3.8" pulley would be the best and most safest to run.

Might have been better off running 12psi and probably make the same power you made on 17psi without overspinning the blower. Brian probably had to remove so much timing from the tune to prevent detonation that you would have made the same power on 12psi with more timing. Not to mention all the extra heat.

Just my $0.02

Glad you had a good experience at APH

@myflys2k that was my initial thought. Diminishing returns would net me the same amount or lower. Someone in the FI section was making a bit more with a similar setup. Id thought i should give it a shot. Ive been watching my AITs just to see if they are higher than usual but im averaging pretty low.

Also, i did a baseline dyno with Brian a few years ago with a 3.8"pulley(12psi) and made 378whp. He said there was lots of room to go and at the time i had a misfire up in the rev range.
