My S2k Dyno run!

Ok so I just put my 2003 S2k on the dyno and had them run it up to 8700rpm. My first run was 187whp and 132 torque, 2nd run 190whp and 135 torque. I was running 12.45 AFR all the way along, they said I am rich and would be fine for boost but since I am not I can lean it out and make more powa.
I was bang on what I though it was going to be for torque and around the same area for HP.
All it's got is AEM intake, HKS exhaust, AC delete. Do these numbers seem to be pretty acurate??

those numbers seem kinda low i think... i dynoed at 202 whp with exhaust, intake and header on a low reading dyno and 215 whp tuned. It all depends on the dyno though, some read higher then others. What dyno was it?

thats mine

Not sure what kinda dyno it was, I will ask tomorrow norning. But it was done in 4th gear and I was runing rich.

yeah man find out, mine was done in 4th gear and i was runing rich before the tune as well!

They use a dynojet...

I don't think you are running all that rich, max. power is usually around 12.7 a/f , you aren't that much more rich than that level, maybe just a tad. 190 whp seems decent, but every dyno is different, I always like running in 3rd gear myself, less load on the engine and the run goes quicker. In theory the gearing is not supposed to factor into the numbers but I always found 3rd gear produced better numbers, fwiw.

Unless you have multiple s2000's running on the same dyno, the same day, you really can't compare numbers.

what you should be looking for is have a base # and then tune and seeing the results

I am going to see what a street tune would run me.... As of now the wife don't know I had it dynoed at all Lol :zip: I figured 190whp was pretty decent since it's 227 at the crank so thats an 18hp loss over 8 yrs... I am not much of an engine guy at all! So this is all new to me but I wan't to learn how to get more power without boost!

buy a different car or spend the same amount of money as a 400 whp turbo kit and buy ITB's a stroker kit and an aem ems LOL hopefully you will be making over 250 whp

actually you don't really know if the car has lost any power at all, it might have put down 190 whp on that same dyno when it was in brand new condition since all dyno's put out different numbers. Not knowing the starting point of that vehicle on that dyno is only going to confuse you, like Dom was explaining in his reply. Dynos are only good to record delta gains and losses of the same vehicle analyzed on the same dyno over time, they are tuning tools only. Having said that, I think it is safe to say that your car is probably running in pretty good condition, you aren't out of the expected range IMO.

Like Cleans2000 stated, NA hp is crazy expensive on this car, somewhere in the range of $100-$300 per hp, either go boost or stick with oem or minor bolt ons at the most, unless you have a lot of money to throw at it.
