Natural Carbon Fiber Hood vs. Painted ?
1 Attachment(s)
I have a J's Racing Type-S carbon fiber on my ap1. Right now it is the natural carbon fiber look. I always thought that I'd probably paint it some day when it starts to yellow or the clear deteriorates. The hood is still in mint condition, no yellowing or deterioration after a couple of seasons of driving (garage kept). I love the high quality carbon of this hood, but I don't have any other carbon parts to match with it (no carbon trunk or wing), so it does stick out a bit. The car would look less race-car like with the hood painted.
Do you guys like painted hoods or carbon fiber ?. If I am going to paint it I need to take it in this month so it can be ready to go for April. It would be painted Sebring Silver. Thanks for any opinions. Attachment 136624 |
Paint for sure. I hate the mismatched look

:stupid:
The unpainted CF look doesn't work for me. Way cleaner with the painted hood and the slight aggressive accent of the hood vent. |
Do yourself a favor and paint that bitch. Pesonally loooooooove vented hoods that are paint matched to the rest of the car. In fact, I'm picking up a seibon CF amuse style on friday. CF looks like shit but I'm getting it for a steal with the intentions to paint it.

if you need any more convincing, direct yourself to Andrew Hake's build thread that features an authentic Amuse CF hood. Paint matched to the rest of the car looks unreal.

What all these guys ^ said. I love carbon fiber as accents, but when they are large body panels I am not a huge fan. It may look okay on a BB car as it would blend in better but when it's any other colour I'm not a huge fan.

Thanks for all of the replies. That sounds very convincing, lol. I hate to bury high quality carbon fiber under paint but it probably looks better on larger parts like mentioned above. Thanks everyone :tipwink:

I've seen someone do this locally and I thought it was really cool. |
