The new s2000 possible pricing and specs?

This type of strategy definitely cheapens what the car is and makes it less special in all of its trim levels. I don't care how nice they make the top end model, if you can also buy the same car for half the price or rent it at Alamo, they all lose some appeal. I suppose this is nothing though compared to the thought of what new hideous wheel design Honda will use on the production car.

You guys really need to learn to assess what is actual news on the Internet and what is just nonsense click generating content. Here's a tip when it comes to a new S2000: Were the images/announcement from Honda? No? Then they aren't worth commenting on.

I'm just trying to think that if the reason they had to discontinue with it in the first place was lack of sales, which was I'm sure partly due to the cost (many people still buy the miata as an affordable convertible), then if they can make a version that is comparable in performance and price to the miata they can at least start producing the car. Once they have the basics of the car there, it wouldn't take much more to tweak it a bit and make its performance better like a "Type-R" version. That way the sales for the base model will allow them to make the profit enough and can release the Type-R for the true enthusiasts. I'm sure this is what they have always done in the past for many other Honda's. Subaru does the same thing, to me I would pass the base model off just like I do for a stock Impreza, and almost consider the WRX or STI to be a car of totally different standards even though its produced off of the base model. The in crowd know that if the Subaru you drive by doesn't have a scoop, don't bother waiving.

At this point, it's all speculations
Debut dates are all over the place: end of 2016/early 2017/2018.. dont' even know whom to trust
Anyways, given that the RR S660 is already in production, I believe there's a huge chance of a new S2000

At the dragon this year, Raul made a poignant statement- essentially he said "the s2000 is basically the same car across all the years. It doesn't have special trim levels (CR notwithstanding) and so owners of a 2000 have the same car as owners of a 2009. There isn't a special GT or bigger engine or whatever to separate the group. We all love the car as the s2000- we all bought the same car- and that's what keeps the community together."
Think about the Dodge charger- you get the secretary model, the tough guy model, the poser model, the hairy chested poser model, the model for the guy who has more money than skill...and each of those groups look down at the others. Its different with the s2000 community.
I hope any new s2000 is just the s2000 from Honda- take or leave it.

Very true, quite often Honda dealers aren't even given the real information until very late in the process and just before marketing starts, thus I doubt most of what I read on this subject.

If the new S2000 is supposed to compete against the ND Miata, BRZ/GT86 cars, then that means it's going to be an inferior car overall as a performance vehicle. As much as I love my AP2, the BRZ chassis is better than ours but we have a better engine but they have useable trunk space.
I was originally dead set on buying a BRZ myself but since this is my fun car (I have a beater), rear seats, useable trunk be damned. The engine was intoxicating and the BRZ's was simply ho-hum - I was sold on the F22C alone. Plus a convertible is always fun in good weather.
It'll be interesting to see how this car turns out but in the end, it won't be the same uncompromising car that our AP1/AP2's were.
