One Stop Shop- All Maintenance fluids/parts Info
Hi guys, being new to the s2000 scene and recently buying one myself its time for me to do a complete tune up on the car.
Obviously here and on other message boards there is a plethora of information as well as opinions as to what oils/spark plugs/filters to use on our cars and being a new owner- its overwhelming.
Lets try to create a thread that covers everything that a new owner would need, as well as current owners that are doing maintenance on their cars in order to save hours of research .....just a thought.......hopefully everyone contributes
Lets try to keep it in somewhat of an organized format
Transmission Fluid-
Engine Oil-
Diff Oil-
brake/clutch fluid-
and reasons/experiences with oils that didn't suit well in the s2000 and possibly locations to get the fluid
THANKS !

Congrats on the car. You'll love it more as the days go by.
In response to your question, here are the fluids that are recommended. You can always perform a search to learn more. All this information that you will gain might be overwhelming but it'll help you learn alot about the car so it always works to your advantage in youre very interested in knowing about your car. The fluids are as follows:
Transmission Fluid: MTF OEM honda fluid
Engine Oil: Any full synthetic oil. Try to stay away from Mobile1 as they cause premature wear on the timing chain tensioner. Castrol edge seems to be great that the moment in protecting the engine.
Diff oil: 75w90 is what you should look for. Only go for that as this is what works best for the car. DO NOT BUY WHAT THE DEALER HAS IN STOCK AS IT IS THE WRONG FLUID. Go to partsouce or cdntire and look for gear oil with 75w90 rating.
Brake/clutch can be any DOT3/DOT4 fluid.

Wow, really mobil 1? that was the most recomended oil I have seen yet on the forums ( here and otherwise ) and it was #1 on my list to buy. Strange....
any readily available diff oil? as in brands I can get anywhere without having to hunt for them?
and in terms of the MTF fluid, many people recomend that so I think this is what ill pick up
and get ready for the noobest qustion ever...........
how much fluid of each do I need on my API F20 C

A good choice for engine, tranny and diff is Amsoil.
10w30 engine oil
Mobile 1 is good...i only use it when its cheap at crappy tire or walmart.. i burn none. (but i have one crankvent, the importante one)
MTF for the tranny...i think its better than the honda stuff... smoother shifting
Severe gear 75w90 for the diff

Engine oil = Amsoil 10W30, 5.5 quarts
Tranny = GM Syncomesh FM, 1.7 quarts
Diff = Mobil 1, 75W-90 0.8 quarts
Brakes/Clutch = ATE super blue
That is what i am using now. I find the GM tranny fluid really took the "notchyness" feel out of my tranny.
