Default Portable GPS/PDA question

I know there are some portable electronic gurus out there..

Need a portable GPS that I can take with me to different cars. Ideally the maps would be updateable at a reasonable cost, or free , I think TomTom has a user database? But I also would like to have business organizer software to keep track of my orders, contracts and appointments.

Could I just get a GPS unit and "hack it" to run some version of portable Windows? Trying to avoid spending $500-600 on a gps/pda combo.

What is a good machine?

Hold out for a little bit if you can to buy a portable GPS......as Honda will soon be offering one i think, like you can buy from dlr, decent price, comes with support/updates, warranty, etc. they will be using a Garmin unit (prob the better of most brands).

else, if you dont go with the Honda oem offered one, i would suggest just getting a Garmin unit from whatever store. (or if there is better, look into it). sorry i dont know about the whole pda-gps thing.

The Garmins get great reviews.

Ive got two - a SP Delux III and a 2610. I think that Dogman was selling his 2610 a while back. It is an AMAZING unit.

Id look for one of those on EBay.
