Default Question about move to Ontario

Hi Guys,

I am moving from Newfoundland to the Chatham-Kent area in July and wondering about inspection requirements for my new S2000. My understanding is that I have to get a smog test for the car.

My question is where is this done? Are there separate shops for this or is it done at the Honda dealer? I assume I will need to get a provincial inspection to get the Ontario plates for the car so I'll take it to the Honda dealer for that I am thinking.

Also, is there a bracket or something for mounting the front plate, or can I get away with not having it? Here in Newfoundland the DMV hasn't given out front plate since the last century, so I have nothing to mount the front plate with for this car.

Thanks for any help.

Some Honda dealers may have the E-test equipment themselves or they may take it for you where they get the tests done for cars they sell. The prices are regulated for the tests so it doesn't matter which stealer you go to.

I believe the front plate does have a bracket - looks horrible. Can be had at the stealer too.

Not certain how many dealers are in Chatham - it's quite far west. Been some time since i've gone there.

I haven`t had a plate on the front of my acura tl for over 5 yrs and never got stopped and don`t have one on the s2000. Of course not to say you wouldn`t get a ticket your first time out. Welcome to the area !

You dont need a bracket. Just pop off the 2 caps on the front bumper and screw in your new plate. Emission test shops are everywhere. Just look for the yellow drive clean sign.

You can find a list of places that do emission tests here:

I think a majority of shops have the Etest accredited stuff. Do you already have holes in your front bumper?
