Rear Tires?

Hey, how long do the rear tires last? I guess it depends on the driving, but, i was just checking out my tires, and they seem to be 50% done already. I have about 11,000 mostly highway kms on them. The treadwear feels like a Toyo RA1 race rubber!! I mind as well go with a race tire next time. Anybody try a different tire?
