That’s a heck of a drive.

Lots of good roads there. We came in that way to the 2017 event after staying at the Haunted Village. Lol

I've not done the roads near Suches/Helen/Osborn yet- its a drive that would need to start early with a stop for lunch and then being still on the road for dinner. Likely doing some of the final miles at dusk/dark. Probably a good one for FRIDAY since we'll actually be in Fontana - slap forehead.

I'll post up more maps to store as I generate them.

This event is sneaking up fast. Last call for anyone interested in our group drive down. The main group is starting the journey on Monday, May 6 but you could catch up with us on tuesday . We stay mainly on secondary and backroads, heck , sometimes we will be in the sticks as we search out the "interesting' roads.

Ive amended a map i was working on for a FRIDAY drive...like an all day drive- we can make it longer if need be. It hits the Cherohala first to Tellico Plains with a shot down 315 (all stuff we did last year). But then it goes south into areas I've not yet seen to Suches, GA hitting 348, 19 and 180 (as was recommended to me to explore). I think lunch will happen either in Mccaysville, GA (at Habanero's tex mex on the main street) or down a road 30 miles at Riverside Tavern at Turners Corner (BBQ joint) or JR's BBQ and country store (more BBQ options). On the way north we'll be on wayah road and if its getting late and we're hungry, perhaps dinner at Tapoca Inn (scenic on the river along 129 about 20 mins to Fontana).

say leave 8:30/9:00 am give or take.

Darcy Darcy Darcy. Since you will be waking up Thursday morning with the Ontario group somewhere' s around Wytheville VA to start an all day long drive to Fontana, Just how are you going to do this drive starting in Fontana? You need to shift it to Friday.

i was under the impression that we would be at Fontana village Wednesday night as well. Sounds like you’re the only one that knows what’s going on or you have no clue either

Arriving Wednesday night was the plan when the Banquet was Friday night and we were leaving Saturday afternoon for home. That all went out the window when the banquet went back to Saturday night.
