Ahh my insurance hasn't settled with me yet but those are the same choices as me. BMW 335I/135I, Nissan 350z or a FRS/BRZ. I'm most likely going with the FRS/BRZ boosting it because the BMW 335i maintenance and problems scared me and when I test drove the Nissan 350z it felt heavy to me but the exhaust note and power was nice.

Yeah it seems every car has a few attractive qualities of their own.

I did find the 350z... tank'ish, heavy although torquey, predictable and a exotic to a point. Probably my next in line from the s2000.

The BRZ/FRS was a fun car to drive, really fun, but would be to bent on turbo charging her. How does the BRZ' motor stack up against the s2ks when it comes to turbo. My 500whp was healthy as ever on stock internals. Ive even heard of 700WHP on stock for s2k... which is likely not recommended although seemingly possible.

The 335i, made me feel like I had money I didnt have.. and torque! More torqe than anyone near me. So much torque. And so linear. Well behaved, and comfortable as hell. German. Having said that, it didnt give me the kick in the pants that you get the .. not so linear s2000... let alone turbo s2000. Overall wasnt impressed enough to dish out the cash for a cheap high status high hp potentially mechanical nightmare...and annoyed mechanic. I think when Im in the right situation I would only lease such vehicles. I thinking owning may be too involving with maintenance, which may sap energy from actually enjoying and tuning the thing.

I still find out of all my considerations that the s2000 to be of higher quality, quick, intuitive, and very well put together. No guessing went into the design, everything is in place for a reason. Even its aesthetics are hard to critique. They're non instrusive, nor do they need to make a statement. It is EXACTLY what it is. A well designed, minimalist, non offensive, roadster - That above all, makes you FEEL great! ..even if you're late on your taxes.

Plus there arent many convertibles that look GOOD, FAST, RICH, CUTE AND AGGRESSIVE ALL AT THE SAME TIME. MIND MY JUDGEMENT, ITS MERELY OPINION. BUT to me BMW convertibles look a tad douchey and square (other than the z4 M which look fantastic). Audi - feminine/round (other than the TTS) . Mazda - wimpy/limp/cheap . Mercedes - nice, but not s2k nice. Porsche - out of my budget. and S2000 - unique, aggressive, playful, natural but moreso.. nothing. And thats the beauty of it. It doesnt insist you feel a certain way. You feel raw, and you feel YOURSELF. Whatever "yourself" is. Its not trying to create an image of what it wants its target market to be.

And ps for those who dont know me. Im a personal trainer for work. I run my own in home fitness business. I am a street dancer and compete regularly (electric boogaloo / popping, bboying), I train kung fu and qigong under a Sifu. And am currently writing a book, whilst creating my own SYSTEM of fitness - methodology, philosophy, etc.

PSs I love how there is soo much room in the engine bay of an s2k.

your love for the S2K is written all over your post. S2 community share one common interest why we're still keeping our S2K's and the list goes on...

My advice is to take the settlement of $17,000, add another $5,000 on top for clean AP1, add $10,000 more for clean AP2. It's worth it, this time please keep her inside at all times.

Spring is a good time to buy a S2K, be patience and wait for the right S2K up for sale.

Good luck !

Bloody Hatch has a beautiful ap1 in Michigan for sale - $15,000, in amazing shape, lots of nice oem parts on it, check out his for sale post in the cars for sale forum, Michigan is real close. I'd buy it if I didn't have one already.

Why not try for an ap2 if you're looking to switch it up (since you've had 2 ap1's)?

You think a clean AP2 is worth $32k?

I think he meant add 5k to the 17 for a clean ap1 (23k total), or 10k to the 17 for a clean ap2 (27k total).

But I could be wrong

You're right, I should've been more clearer. As for $30K S2K price tag, yes its worth it base on condition ( example, 2008-09 AP2 with 20K-50K mint shape ).

In Turtlepower case, I would add whatever $ fit his budget on top and get another S2K, he won't regret it. Best of luck I hope you find another S2K soon

Ya I'd say unmolested 08-09 with <50k is the only way it's going over $30k. Even then I don't think it would be a quick sell.
