Is it safe to buy an S2000 if I have to park it outside?

Thanks for the insight guys. I think im going to go for the Z4. I dont think people steal them like they do with the s2k. I really want a roadster that i can daily. Having a s2000 seems like it will cause a lot of stress. I will get one in the future when im in a better position. Thanks again.

Don't let the terrorist win.
If you want an S2000, buy one. Don't let some stories or people's opinion ruin your chance to own a great car. You can live your life in fear 24/7.

I would be equally worried about a nice Z4, they can be stolen just as easy as an S2000, and the quick pick tow truck method does not discriminate. they steal cars so fast these days that they can get whatever they set their eyes on. The largest car theft cartel in the GTA is shipping cars to foreign countries not parting them out, so BMW's are in hot demand in those countries which makes thefts here very lucrative, I'd say more so then Honda S2000's.
Get the car you want, get an alarm if you please, and toss in a kill switch. Then enjoy the drive, insurance is there for a reason.

My suggestion for you would be to get the car you really want, but make sure your insurance will be able to cover the amount of your vehicle.
Your insurance is your only peace of mind as ANY car is just as vulnerable to being towed away, and it takes a skilled thief next to no time to make your car disappear from your driveway or your street.
A kill-switch is useless against a tow and a GPS tracker is also useless if the thief carries an EMP Jammer that would render the GPS tracker useless. If a thief really wants your car, they will get your car.
FYI, I was told (not sure if it's true) that thieves tend to steal cars with a higher chance of reselling the parts without being tracked down, so corollas and civics are higher on the priority list
Stolen high end cars such as porsche usually get illegally exported to other countries as opposed to getting chopped and sold for parts.

I parked my s2000 outside for 5+ years and it was never stolen. Lived in Toronto all those years. Obviously winter stored inside though. Currently motorcycle is outside and has not been stolen, live downtown now. If people want it, take it, I'll claim insurance and get money, go buy a new one. I wouldn't mind if somebody took my bike, has damage from my crash now.

Hey mine was stolen right off my driveway around 8 am. I live in richmond hill. Be careful it happens!
I have since then invested in a dash cam, property surveillance, and an alarm system, and i park cars behind mine always. I also use a steering wheel lock and turn my wheels sideways when parked at malls, restaurants etc.
Also remember for every anti theft measure, the thieves have a way around it. But the more detour-ants the less likely they will bother.
Im hoping to connect with someone in regards to a DIY kill switch for extra protection.
These cars are highly sought out by thieves. Especially those with Standalone ECUs
