oh mine looked the exact same, i changed it already i forgot to post that
i also restored the window cowl (plastic cover between the hood and windshield) it was a faded gray and i made it fresh black again (used a product called "back to black" i had from way back in the day) its kind of like dress shoe paint

The valve cover paint was still kinda soft and squishy so i used a razor blade and scraped the bad areas off, then sanded the area until it was smooth.

then i gave it another shot at painting
this time i went super light and did maybe 5 or 6 coats. i think its a success this time. i just forgot to take an after picture
ill post how it turned out tomorrow, and if i have time ill reassemble the valve cover with all the new gaskets.

On Sunday i installed my valve cover, only nicked one little spot but no one will notice it lol

let it run for a bit no oil leaks or anything so i think its good. cant run it for too long cause its indoors at my shop and its too cold to open the garage door

Might want to start cleaning the old grease off that shifter! Looks like it's going to take a while

the install went smoothly except when i was trying to press plastic the mount part on the ball of the shift rod, i cracked the plastic mount part.
i was very upset after waiting like a month and a half for this stupid part. I greased the Sh!t out of everything and i put it in anyways it seems like the cracked part doesn't really effect the way it works because when it is in place its in like a tight fixed position

anways, i ordered another one of those parts anyways (another month wait)

i also got my red honda emblems in the mail
i was torn between the black background emblems or the red, i went with red

they are oem from honda, and cost me a pretty penny, i ordered them off the internet but they are real

I also found a tonneau cover on Kijiji and bought it, installed that the same day
looks ways better imo

this is how everything looks to this date
happy with the turn out

For the installation of those two nylon shifter parts heat them up in hot boiling water before installation, or you will crack the new replacement part as well. They crack easily if not heated up. The grease doesn't prevent cracking upon installation. For added insurance you can also put the shifter bar in the freezer for a bit to shrink it a tiny bit, but heating up of the nylon parts is key.
