Storing my S2k for the winter
My baby will be sleeping for the next 4 to 5 months, Is there anything I should be doing to the car (Breaks, lift the car on blocks, etc) to store it properly and avoid bad news in sping?

Just roll it around every couple of weeks to prevent flatspotting. Either disconnect the battery or start it up every couple of weeks to maintain the charge. I like to go with a full gas tank.

Thanks S2Ktaxi,
You don't think there is any danger the brakes would freeze if not used for months? |

Read the owners manual, it's all there.

Here is what I do....I reccomend NOT suspending the car on stands for long periods of time. Keep the car on the ground.
1. Remove battery 2. Put at least 50psi of air into tires to prevent flat spotting 3. Good Wash and Wax 4. Interior Vacuum and shampoo 5. Full tank of Premium gas 6. Add fuel stabilizer to gas tank 7. Remove spark plugs and pour a little bit of oil down each cylinder, turn crankshaft by hand, install spark pluks. 8. Cover with a good car cover I think thats about it.... When you take out the car in the spring... 1. Remove car cover 2. Install Battery 3. Remove air from tires and adjust to proper level 4. Remove spark plugs and pour a little bit of oil down each cylinder, turn crankshaft by hand, start engine. 5. Replace spark plugs 6. Run tank until almost empty and fill up with a fresh tank of premium. The pouring of oil down each cylinder is important to prevent the rings from seizing in the cylinder.. |
Why don't you recommend jacking it up off the ground? Mine is currently jacked up.
|
Ive talked to Honda engineers. They reccomend that the car sit on the ground like it was designed to be. A car is not designed to be supported by its jacking point for long periods of time. Same goes for the suspension parts. springs, struts, joints etc were not designed to just hang freely for a long period of time....
Thats why I say just leave the vehicle sitting on its tires.....If you have a old set of wheels/tires u can use thats great, if you dont, pump the tires up to at least 50-60psi to prevent them from flat spotting.... BTW, ive stored my 1995 Civic for 7 winters in a row and did the same each year....to date, I still have original struts and suspension....of course im also lowered :D On the ground https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...image&img=3431 |
