Project 1: Tidy up the engine bay and put the battery back in stock location. I’m doing this as the racing series I want to do next year needs the battery back in the OEM location. If you think this looks like a Braille Battery that’s cuz it is. 16lbs AGM

Project #2: after the battery comes out of the trunk i’ll be putting the OEM floor back in. Previous owner did some stupid flat bottom thing. Need to put all the trunk carpet back in as per Street MOD.

Very nice, I had the 17 lb Braille battery and loved it, never had any issues and it spun the engine better than the 29 lb oem battery.

Changed the belt tensioner and noticed somebody gave this bolt the full send. New left, old right. Look at that stretch lol.

Pulled the car out today to reposition it for my AP2 subframe swap! Going to redo the trunk floor while I’m there too. Going to grind and weld sum stuff. Couldn’t resist snapping a pic. Ka-Chow!!!

New lighter AGM battery fitted. Running battery in stock location as i’ll be restoring the trunk area. And running all my interior plastics as per Street Mod

man, that would have been a pain in the ass if that bolt snapped. Luckily you noticed it.

yeah man...so glad I found that. I’m pretty sure if I torqued that back to 16 ftlbs it’ll snap.

Winter stuffs happening pretty quick.

Prepping the old AP1 subframe removal. Dropping suspension pieces to minimize weight during removal. Normally it wouldn’t matter but I’ve got limited space here and every little bit helps moving 2 subframes around here.

Prepping the AP2 subframe by stripping it.

Stripped. Will be putting this over the diff when it all comes down. Then putting the suspension pieces back in and lifting the whole thing up to the car.

Working on cutting out the old trunk and painting in and around it before putting the new trunk tray in. Will be clecko’ing it back in for tack welding. Some paint...seam sealer and done.

looks like a great project , nothing better than working on project cars in the winter months IMO.

Cut the makeshift floor pan out. Not sure what ‘mechanic’ did this pan to fit the fuel cell but it was overkill. Lot of grinding to do to break the welds then drill out the factory spot welds. Looked like they just cut the old pan out without the flanges and welded in a new piece. It was creative though.
