Default Update: News on the "R" compound tires

Hi guys,

We confirmed the availablility of the Bridgestone RE55S. But Unfortunately, the inventory does not have the tires that meet our requirements. Meaning, we found the right tire size, but a different compound or, vice versa. Finally, we made up our decision that we will use the Dunlop Direzza series tires this season instead.

We have (2) sets of the Dunlop Formula-R D01J (215/45/17 & 245/40/17) which are in "S" compound.

We have (1) set of the Dunlop Formula-R D01J (205/55/16 & 225/50/16), also in "S" compound.

We also have (1) set of the Dunlop Direzza 02G (215/45/17 & 245/40/17) which are in "M1" compound.

Please PM me if you are interested.

If you need more information regarding the Dunlop tires, please click on the link below.

Thank You,
Albert

Is this tire strangly sized like the OEM Honda S-02?

The 245/45-16 has always been the popular tire size that most closely matches up to the 225/50-16 S2000 S-02.

Doug, my experience with Japanese R-compounds is that the size doesn't mean squat. They are wide as all hell. No way Albert's 205 fronts were even close to that. Probably closer to 255's. Just insane. Surprised he got no rubbing.

Interesting, I find the Toyos to be real accurate for size...

Actually, Toyo's do seem to be a little wider than other R-compounds....

notwithstanding doug's toyo prices on 16's, these 17's are reasonably priced.

was on the phone with tirerack thorughout the weekend trying to figure out what to do for my situation.

their various 17's are about $1000-1100 US for a set....add the conversion, shipping, taxes, brokerage, etc. and you're up to about $1500 anyway.

i spoke to albert as well and i think i'll get a set of these - albert i'll take one set of the 17" D01J's (as you recommended).
