VAFC Tune 03 s2k / track question
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone had any experiences with a VAFC tune. I have an 03 with a k&n fipk, for the spring I would like to get a High flow cat and exhaust, I already have a PLM header which isn't installed as of yet. Does the vafc tune make a difference ?? I've been thinking about an APEXI VAFC 2 with plug and play harness but have no idea how to set it up. I have checked the forums but can't find too much. The car is a summer only car and will be taken onto track / solo events.
Second question, is the concensus the fastest track /solo setup for tires is a 255/40/17 all around, square setup with a large swaybar upfront ?? Thinking with mods I would be running STR under SCCA rules. Probably going with a Direzza II or RS3 tires.
Thanks

There are no track time attack events that use SCCA classifications, but you would be in the STR class. Hopefully myflys2k pipes in on this thread, but my thoughts are get a proper tuning system and dyno time if you want to feel a real difference.

I've had a vafc2 back when I was NA. Base tune was 201whp and final tune was 210whp with Vtec lowered to 5600rpm. The gains were ok for the amount of money spent for the vafc and tune. If I was NA still would I do it again? Probably not. Stand alone EMS would yield better delta gains by adjusting Vtec even lower and taking advantage of it with timing adjustments. Just my $0.02.
