That's a lot man. Hour and a half of Labour plus the 20$ gasket
Being a tradesperson is where it's at now. $200 an hour for my services, in my field though.
true enough. As a lowly consultant, my charge out rate is insanity. I only wish I got paid what I charge

I can't believe how awesome the responses are on this forum community, thanks everyone

Yes I plan to have the valves inspected/adjusted as well while they are working in there. I have done valve adjustments before and am confident I can do them myself, however I don't have the tools or experience replacing the retainers, so I don't want to take the risk doing them myself. And I figured I might as well just combine the two services together since they will already have the valve cover off

They have to do the valve adjustment... The whole rocker assembly has to come off. Anyone who doesn't include the valve adjustment is an idiot. IMO

$400 in labour isn't a bad deal.

I'm sure it will take a good 3 hours to finish

I got my valve adjustment + valve cover gasket replaced at Speedstar for about $200 + tax - it shouldn't cost you $400.

He's looking for a retainer replacement. I was guesstimating based on what I thought it would take considering the valve cover was already off and checking the valves at that point doesn't seem like too much extra time but what do I know.

8 retainers new retainers, valve adjustment, new seal. About 3 hours maybe more.

Some people didn't read the OP

Thx, my note above assumed the intake side would get adjusted while getting the ap2 parts installed.
