Default Warranty expiring - preventative top tear fix?

I am about to buy a 2007 S2000 and its warranty expires within a month. It only has 37,000km and the top shows no signs of tear, but the PO also has not done anything about it, so it will happen eventually.

Has anyone hear successfully gotten an Ontario dealer to do any preventative work under warranty to avoid the top tearing? (i.e. reinforce the area / file down the hinge as per the TSB?) If so.. Where and how did you convince them to do it?

I would just do it yourself. It's pretty easy.
I would be happy to help you out if you came to me.

but note - if there are no signs of wear after 37k km's, then either the previous owner didn't put the top down often, or you won't have to worry about the tearing problem.

If there is a TSB for the soft top then you could go to the dealer to get them done. When I bought MY00 I got the dealer (I knew them quite well) to do all of the TSBs that were out. This all included a new second gear, new clutch, new tail lights, new seat belts and a bunch of other small things I can't even remember.
