Restored the gear surround on the center console.

Before:

After:

I sanded off all the chipping paint and wrapped it with a 3m dark grey metallic wrap.

I think it turned out pretty good.

Just waiting for my new leather gear changer boot to come.

With the center console out I noticed some surface rust on the frame of the e-brake. Took it off sanded off all the rust and treated it with rust converter. Cleaned and regreased the e-brake.

Being back in COVID lockdown I have a lot of spare time on my hands....may as well do something productive.

I love pedantic stuff like this. I was going to replace my door panels just because...until I called the local Honda dealer and they wanted nearly $1000/door panel.

I would have totally replaced the console but you can't buy them anymore. Looking at ebay for a while they were all in worse condition. The only problem was paint on the surround. So maybe not a bad thing. Will spend the money I saved on something else.

On the subject of rust, I would take some time to remove front and rear bumpers to see what's underneath.
I was a bit shocked on my car and had to strip quite a bit of rust and coat the metal with POR15.

Check out this guy's ordeal:

and while the bumper is off, seal up the trunk vent around the metal to vent area.

Got the install of the footlights almost complete. It was very tight getting into the space on the passenger side to hook up the harness. Part of the kit is to splice into a wire so the footlights are on while driving at night. After much struggle I opted to not do the splice and hook up to the fuse panel on the driver's side. This required extending the wire on the harness.

I got everything hooked up except the running light feature. Waiting for the right connector. But it looks good. Nice added touch to the cabin and makes the car feel a little more modern.
