Default winterbeater needs work, need help

so the winterbeater WRX I bought needs a new frame piece welded in where the frame meets the rear subframe on the passenger side in order to pass safety, anyone know how much this might cost, or any shops I could go to that would be able to do this?

sorry for not being s2000 related, but I'm just trying to use all of my available sources to get information.

Any body shop or anyone who can weld can just box it in. But most places don't wanna touch rusty frames

you can't weld rust, so, clean the area first with an angle grinder to be sure you have enough metal. that will help reduce costs and allow the welder to see what they have to work with. I typically prep the metal then have a local welder come around. I had my '03 upper control arms welded for $60 cash price.

your mileage may vary.

problem is that I don't have anywhere to work on my car(s) anymore, and I gotta pull the subframe in order to get to the area apparently. this really sucks. I thought the only thing it needed to pass safety was brakes, but I guess not.
