URGE designs Velocity Headwork

Headwork is the single largest potential power improvement you can make above the engine block.
An internal combustion engine is simply an air pump that injects gas and manages explosions to create power
And headwork is second only to displacement in the potential to increase air intake and thus power.

Please read our Velocity Headwork story, flow charts and dyno charts on our site

We support 3 velocity headwork applications
  1. Stock Velocity Headwork for stock bottom engines
    1. increases intake airflow ~10% with a focus on not over porting to prevent a lazy motor
    2. Stock bottom engines dont have the compression or displacement for larger port
    3. Can expect 20-30 HP tuned over an untuned OEM motor 15-25 over a tuned motor
  2. Boost Velocity for turbo or supercharged engines
    1. Large Intake ports to allow in 15% more air at same or lower boost
    2. High velocity exhaust for turbo motors to increase spool or high flow ports for superchargers to evacuate spent gas
    3. Customer verified dyno on our site with 60 WHP or 15% on a turbo motor while reducing spool by 500 RPM
  3. Stroker Velocity for 95+ mm stroked motors
    1. 20% increase in intake flow
    2. Potential for 30-40 HP over OEM head on stroker motor
    3. Depending on other potential restrictions like smaller diameter intake, exhaust, OEM cams or smaller collector header
We also have a game changing Cast Velocity option
  • Support for same Stock, Boost and Stroker applications
  • Our partner has cast their own S2000 heads
  • So if you dont want the down time of sending in your head or sourcing a used OEM head
  • Stronger Aluminum that OEM with updated and improved water cooling over OEM head
  • Similar air flow as our Velocity, Boost and Stroker OEM head programs with smaller and more optimized ports as we dont start with OEM size/shape
  • Further increases air velocity, engine response and acceleration
  • For stock bottom cars, we designed 4cc smaller combustion chamber bumping compression to 11.9:1
  • JDM S2000 was 11.7:1 and had 10 more HP than USDM

We are saying you will need a tune to add enough gas to compensate for the large increase in air flow.
You should see 20-30 HP vs a stock ECU or 15-25 vs a motor that has been tuned as tuned ECUs tend to make 5-10 HP over stock ECUs.
The stock ECU is conservative and runs quite rich giving up some power.
