Yes at this point it's an overlay. The cost to create an actual mold/plug would be $$$$$ and there really isn't a market for such a part.

In all honesty I think your advertisements are a little misleading - you give the impression these are actual carbon fiber replacements when they are in fact items wrapped in CF. I'd recommend at the least stating which items are replacement items and which are wrapped.

Reading this thread I would assume the cluster surround is actual CF, especially at $699, and would be rather upset if I ordered to only to find out it's wrapped.

 

These pieces are not wrapped in vinyl. These are real CF parts. There is a huge difference between creating a part from nothing and building it from existing parts. We've sold quite a few and people are very happy but this thread is not to debate the subject. All of our parts are built using real carbon fiber and the look and finish is perfect. Parts such as the radio door are impractical and nearly impossible to make in completely in CF due to the hinge and other nature of the design unless you want to pony up $500+ to make and that is not realistic.

Almost 100% of the parts out there today are fiberglass resin with a coat of CF on the exterior. I can't think of many parts made completely of CF.

 

What I am trying to say is that it should be disclosed that these parts are actual OEM items with a carbon fiber overlay.

I've always wanted CF door cups. Those look pretty nice. Thanks for working on parts for such a low volume car, a lot of people don't think about that when considering custom made parts.

Most people do not realize the costs involved to custom make parts at low volume. There isn't much margin and the overhead costs are enormous not to mention investment and risk if parts do not sell.

Anyways we are happy to continue building parts for s2000 owners since we have a passion for the car ourselves!
