Öhlins DFV Billet Lower Mount - Fix Your Ride Height Issues!

1 Attachment(s)
We sell a lot of Öhlins DFV and although we hear almost nothing but great things about them the single recurring comment is that the rear damper doesn't allow the car to be lowered to the ideal height. Regardless of if you are running high spring rates for the track, enough preload to achieve ultimate performance on the standard springs or even trying to live life hellaflush, the standard lower mount design leaves a lot to be desired.

We recommend a high amount of rear pre-load with near standard spring rates (7-10KG) when setting up the conventional DFV suspension due to the limited available stroke. 10-30mm of spring pre-load is needed to obtain an optimal balance of compression and rebound and stay off the bump stops for best ride quality. This does come at a cost however, as it will limit the amount of ride height adjustment the can be achieved. As pre-load increases, the damper length must decrease to keep the car at the same ride height. Unfortunately the standard lower mount does not allow the car to be lowered as much as many people would like, especially with the correct amount of preload. This is where our mounts come in!

Our mounts have been designed to allow the shock body to thread deeper into the lower mount than is available with the standard lower mount. The mounts can provide an *additional* 50mm of drop at the wheel for the following scenarios:
-Optimal pre-load setups with standard springs
-High rate race-springs
-Ultra-low rear ride height

Highlights:
-FPSpëc Aerospace Aluminum Lower Rear Mounts
-Up to 50mm lower ride height as compared to standard DFV mount
-Adjusts to 40mm higher ride height than standard DFV mount at shortest height
-Allows for proper height adjustment for standard spring rates with correct pre-load, race spring rates, and ultra-low setups
-Stronger and stiffer than standard DFV mounts
-40% weight reduction as compared to the standard DFV mounts
-Only required for the rear, if you want your front lower you can move your standard rear mount to the front

Pricing (per pair):
Standard Price: $345
Introductory Price: $295
Sakebomb Garage Öhlins Customers: $235

 noodels great hearing from you again!

Keeping with the Öhlins design was very important to us. These were designed specifically for the s2000 DFV kit (though it will work for other platforms too!). We drive these cars every day and put a lot of pride into well engineered, beautiful hardware.

These parts are fresh from machining and we are planning to either anodize them either Öhlins gold to match the tophat and standard lower cup or gray to match the damper body (would look similar to the steel fork too). Any thoughts?

Sounds like this would fix my short movement and the feeling that the bump stop is really close. I'll call tomorrow.

That's the exact issue that this helps to fix! With the suggested settings you don't get enough compression travel and are often on the bump-stops. If you add the correct amount of preload to address this most people don't think they can get low enough. With this you can get the maximum performance out of the damper while still being as low as you would like!

That said you better move quick as these are selling like hotcakes! There are only 5 sets available in the first production run and we already have several of them spoken for.

eh? how could this possibly adjust to 40mm higher ride height than the standard DFV mount? What is the actual range difference vs. the standard DFV mount? What is the minimum amount of threads engaged that Ohlins recommends with the DFV? I think they listed this in the user manual maybe? Does this lower mount allow the damper to thread all the way through the mount?

Cool to see another company making a lower mount. A shop in Japan (Creative Service Ohara) has something similar.

I would still recommend roll center adjusters in the rear though, especially if lowering the car more than 20mm.
