Ohlins Road & Track DFV Coilovers (S2000) - SakeBomb Garage LLC

We know there's been quite a bit of talk about gray-market European Ohlins imports in this subforum, and we're here to announce that the US can compete! We've leveraged our prices through a massive purchase with Ohlins, and are passing the savings on to you! *We will match and beat any price from here to Europe*. These kits have been selling out fast on pre-order, but we still have kits up for grabs! Stop sending your cash out of the country and invest in the companies that still develop for your cars here!

Öptimize Your Kit!

We sell a lot of Öhlins DFV and although we hear almost nothing but great things about them the single recurring comment is that the rear damper doesn't allow the car to be lowered to the ideal ride height. Regardless of if you are running high spring rates for the track, enough preload to achieve ultimate performance on the standard springs or even trying to live life hellaflush, the standard lower mount design leaves a lot to be desired. This is why we developed a custom lower mount for the s2000 community!

Just $275 for Sakebomb Garage Ohlins DFV customers!

Thanks for the PM's and emails everyone! Happy to answer any questions you have as always.

***Also just a reminder every suspension set comes with customized Ohlins suspension consultation/tuning for the life of your kit. Adding aero? Changing spring rates? Adding or removing weight? Changing sway bars, or ride height? We've got you covered, for as long as you own your Ohlins! We've modeled ALL aspects of the S2000 suspension geometry, and take into account nearly 20 interacting variables to calculate optimal suspension setup based on your individual chassis. The most important part of high end suspension is actually in the SETUP itself. Great hardware without a proper setup is simply wasted money. If you're running stock settings, you're probably riding on the bump stops ;) We've been tuning and setting up Ohlins on the S2000 and other chassis for many years now and pride ourselves on being able to fine tune them for optimal performance based on individual chassis differences.

Can these coilovers be set up for a comfortable dd setup for rougher northern roads? Also can you send me a price as well. Thanks

Thats the whole point of the Ohlins signature feature, DFV. Its a high pressure bolw off valve that allows big, sharp hits like when you hit a pothole to blow off pressure so it smooths out the ride. Its like having two shocks in one. Firm over smooth roads, relaxed over rough roads.

Its not something you have to setup. Instead, you setup these Ohlins for best performance with your springs, and the pothole thing is just inherent in the design.

Thanks that's what I like to hear. Currently I have Koni shocks with old school springs from kg/mm I believe they are stiff version for the past 12 years. The ride gets pretty rough on our roads back when I was in my 20's it was fun now close to my 40s not so much lol.

This is one big reason people love these coilovers so much. You can set them up for the track, quite stiff, but they'll still be reasonably comfortable on the street.

Most of us prefer a firm, responsive suspension, even on the street, its just the punishment from big bumps and potholes that make it unbearable. The DFV thing addresses that.

If you're just simply looking for street ride quality, you can probably raise up the car and set the Koni damping to allow for that.

If you're looking for something more sophisticated that works well for track and street use with fewer compromises in function as compared to other systems, then the Öhlins would be something to look in to.

But...setting them up properly is extremely important. The DFV works on very high speed impacts and allows for another oil flow path. Simply put, it can control extremely fast movements with more control and resolution than just letting the piston act as a blowoff valve like on a non-DFV equipped shock.

But if you're slamming into the bumpstop all the time...the ride isn't all that fantastic. SBG seems to have done some R&D for setting up spring heights.

At the moment, getting free travel AND keeping the car at a lower ride height is an issue with the Öhlins. But SBG says they are working on something to mitigate that.

Oh yes, we're always in development :) If you guys want Ohlins now, shoot us an email or PM as we're mostly sold out.... we've got lots of cool tuning parts coming for these things. FYI there is no release date for another run of DFV's so whatever is sitting on shelves for now is all the inventory available! They've been moving FAST!

Yep! Think firm yet supple.... it's hard to describe but with the low hysteresis and ultra-high-speed fluid path, they absorb bumps while keeping wheel contact during spirited driving. Think of being mid corner and hitting a bump, it would upset the chassis and potentially send you off... now think about hitting that same bump mid corner and the wheel just moves out of the way transferring little force to the chassis... you stay on your intended trajectory and do not upset the chassis. What makes them good on streets makes them good on the track (hitting curbing / berms). With the Ohlins properly setup, you'll be a very happy camper... nothing comes close until you get into $5000+ suspension.
