but then factor in down time, waiting on parts(which may get harder to find). May be easier to buy something thats cheap(not 10-15K) but under 5 grand that runs good

Just do a full swap into it....won't cost much and you'll be good to go for a long time.

That's what I did with my buddies 72 pickup. Full rebuild. Would do burnouts in 4WD all the way through 3rd gear.

Yeah these prices are just we todd did for what you're getting. My 1st car was older & in better shape for less money than that. Inflation has nothing to do with it.
