Soichiro Honda-san spirit is wishing for his greatest creation, the Honda S2000, to be nurtured and revered.

Therefore, we will be getting together for an S2K Dinner at the Waterloo Ice House-Burnet, Thursday, Aug. 14, 7pm, in the back room. Address: 8600 Burnet Rd., Austin, close to the corner with Rockwood Ln, just south of 183.

We have been here before when a track talk was given. Some of the original group will be there as well as new-comers. Let me know if you can make it, so that I can give Waterloo a head count.

Back in the original days of S2KI, and for several years, we had drives and dinner meets a couple of times a month. The drives went all over Central Texas and beyond, every month of the year (always top down), sometimes for days on end. We had workshops where we worked on our cars as a group. We led groups to the track, most notably Texas World Speedway where S2Ks led the pack down the front straight at 130 MPH *and* dominated thru the turns. The S2K owners in this area even hosted S2K Days in 2003.

Other car clubs focused on "show", we focused on "go". All because the S2K is made for driving.

That was all when the S2K was in production, then things fell off a bit. But now that the S2K is back as a recognized classic (and still dominates it's class), interest is rising again.

So it's time to see what we've got locally... if there is enough interest to start some events we'll see if we can build some momentum again.

Alex has setup a dinner on the 14th. We'll talk over the "good old" days, swap stories, and see if we can plan a drive.

We'll have a pair of honored guests at the dinner, original owners who just moved here from Chicago with their immaculate S2K. We're also hoping to get some of the original group - many of whom still have their S2Ks, and as many new owners as possible.

I plan on attending. I'm assuming RED AP2 is me (David), and the 97 Prelude is one of my buddies. I'll have to make sure if he is going to make it.

Long time Lurker here on the Forums, Usually just post on the Reddit s2000 page

but Ive been coming out to the Cars and Coffee meets for awhile and there has been talk of a Family Dinner.

I drive the Silverstone S2k with RPF1 wheels. Youll probably recognize me by my hair and not the car haha.

You can count me in for Thursday 7ish.
