OK, I drove the route today and what I have planned is to meet in the Albertson's parking lot at the Y in Oak Hill this Saturday at 11:00, head over to the Salt Lick for some lunch, then off to the museum. There will also be a swap meet and car show that day so there will be a lot of people and much to look at.

Since I have not been on an S2000 drive in awhile, I am not sure if you guys go as fast as we used to, but this will not be a fast drive for a couple of reasons. I cannot get another ticket right now and I saw no less than 6 various law officers today that had people pulled over and another that was chasing someone down Highway 21. We also have a few new Miata members who will be going on their first drive with us and I don't want to scare them off.

Now if you guys want to drive at a faster pace and if any other Miatas want to also, then that is fine as you can take off when we leave the Salt Lick.

Here is my route: It will take a bout an hour and 15 minutes, doing the speed limit, to get from the Salt Lick to the museum.

West on 290 out of Albertson's parking lot for .2 miles

Left on 1826 for 10.5 miles to the Salt Lick

Continue on 1826 for 1.5 miles to 150.

Left on 150 for 6.7 miles

Left on 150 where it merges with 3237 through to Kyle.

In Kyle: take a left at the dead end and you will now be on East 150.

Cross I-35 and take a right at the service Rd.

Take a left onto East 150 at the Diamond Shamrock for 4.5 miles to 21.

Left on 21 for 22 miles.

Right on 535 for 38.5 miles

Left on 304 for 2.3 miles and the museum will be on the left.

You can go back to Austin the way we came or just continue on up 304 to Bastrop and take Highway 71 back to Austin.

Let me know if you will be going.

Thanks,
Kirk

How was the Museum drive? Did you have a good turn out? I'm thinking about putting something together here in SA. What's the best way to let the Miata folks know about it?

The museum is really impressive if you like old cars and I mean old. They have a lot of early 1900's car along with a gullwing Mercedes, a beautiful early model Vette, and many others.

As far as letting the Miata club know, just fill me in and I will pass it along.

Thanks Kirk. Sorry I wasn't able to make it. Sounds like it was fun.

I can't seem to generate much interest here in SA from the S2k owners, so I'm hoping to join up with some Miata owners for some activities. Is there a local contact that you know of?
