Met with reasons why we cant make it???? Are you serious? I know for a FACT that I have asked at least a week in advance for 3 maybe even 4 differenet drives / gtgs and the majority of the chapter has either read the post and moved on or said some reason they couldnt make it. And everything I have done has been full of younger people who were guests. There has been 1 event since I have been an S2KCA member that more than 5 people have shown up to and that was a 17 car deal in the middle of summer that was a joint deal with houston people. Now before you start making fun of cars that dont even exist on here I would look around...you have i/h/e and slicks on. Thats just as much as the rest of us. And just wondering what under the radar means.. i mean if we dont know its going on how can we attend???
2. The crowd you have drawn out on your drives is largely a street racing crowd. Texas law is now written such that guilt by association is enough to get ME thrown in jail and my car flatbedded away if ANYONE else gets caught doing something stupid. Additionally, if anyone did something stupid and someone got hurt/killed, the rest of us could be sued. The ones of us that you are calling old farts and boring have more assets than just a car to lose, and we've had discussions amongst ourselves about liability and what we aren't willing to risk. My home, my car(s), and my livelihood are not something I'm willing to put in the hands of irresponsible dragracing kids. This is the reason why there are some drives that are under the radar and communicated by phone, often last minute. The key to being invited on these is to show up to other drives and demonstrate responsibility; the unadvertised drives are often some of the most fun because we don't have to watch and worry as much.
3. There have been many events since you became a member, including a drive that took place a month ago, an Intro to the Track happy hour a little over a week ago, and a dinner that took place a mere 2 days ago. And those are just off the top of my head!
I'm not trying to be a bitch, but I shouldn't have to defend myself against immature, baseless remarks because things don't go the way you want them to. Chris, Stefan, and I have been arranging drives for 7 years now and everyone else has been active at setting up and showing up to other events. None of them are complaining...
Isnt some of your comments discriminating as far as age....I mean this is an s2k COMMUNITY.You keep referencing old farts and well I guess consider me one bc I dont go out to meets either and Im only 26.
I dont even think you discussed why you ignored some of his posts on meets/drives/gtgs...
I totally understand about the risk you take being around "people" not kids that street race. I wouldnt want to be around that either but to totally ignore his posts when he is reaching it totally uncalled for. I dont like people who act immature either but if you have a problem with them then you need to address it in PMs or in person. Ignoring it is just as immature.
I know there is probably more to the story but I am going off the facts that are presented to me.
Im pretty sure you would classify me as a kid too if you saw the way my s2k looks. lol.
Not standing up for anyone...but from the looks of it,you are pretty active on s2kca. Why come on s2ki and posts your frustration...

1. You're in college. You have lots of free time. The ones of us you are bitching about are employed, have families, and/or have other hobbies that suck up time. Some of us even race as our hobby, though none of us do it on the street. The times that I used to arrange drives, I'm usually at an autocross now, usually 2-3 weekends of the month during the season. Chris races his motorcycles, and Stefan has recently transitioned into a new job that is eating up a lot of his time.

I've responded to most of his drive announcements, actually. They all seem to happen on weekends that I'm registered to race somewhere else (no criticism to that, just unfortunate coincidence).
I am active on S2KCA (I am actually one of 3 cofounders). I also was member #2 on S2Ki before it was ever a forum, was one of the first board members for this site in early 2000, and was the community organizer on this forum until 2003 or 2004. I have a long history with the S2000 and these sites, hence why I come here.

I referenced old farts because that's what Matt (Chelsea) called those of us on S2KCA. I personally think that's funny since the last person I went out with before my current b/f was 27; I've never been accused of being an old fart by anyone who actually knew me.
