might be moving to austin!

hey guys, my names james. currently, i live in little rock, AR. my gf has the oppurtunity to take a regional job for whole foods, located in austin.

we're looking for suggestions for things such as apartment complex's, what area's to avoid, which areas are safe...ect. if you guys can offer any suggestions for us, that would be great! our price range for housing is about 650 a month or so, and i would (obviously) like to have covered/indoor parking for the S.

thanks

james

its been around 5 to 6 years since i lived in austin, but the I think the far west area between mopac and hwy 360 is a really great, safe, and affordable region to live! I have alot of friends that live in that area and they love it!
I used to live around westlake and hwy 360 it was pretty pricey, but a great area!!
Hopefully some people actually living in austin can be more helpful!

Whole Foods is a great company! I wish both of you the best of luck!
You'll Love Texas! Especially Austin!
Welcome Welcome!!

Since I'm a Realtor, I'm not legally permitted to point you in one direction of town or another, but I can tell you that finding covered or garage parking for your car as well as housing for $650 will be difficult, if not impossible, to find :(

Austin proper can be expensive to live, you might look into communities near Austin for more affordable housing, Good luck and welcome to Texas!

txs2knoah 12-03-2008 07:58 AM

welcome if you do come

Chris S 12-03-2008 08:54 AM

Welcome, and be prepared to either increase your housing budget or lower your standards. Austin is the most expensive major city in TX, and for good reason!

jettfiery 12-03-2008 10:11 AM

haha as u come, i leave. I love Austin but I got a great job opportunity in California. You'll love it here! :-)

Yeah, so I've heard. I'm on the northwest side of San Antonio and I'm paying $762/mo for my 1bdrm 667sq.ft. apartment with a garage and it's of decent quality ($670 w/o a garage).

shotgunjimmy 12-03-2008 04:34 PM

hey, thanks for the help guys. right now we're most likely gonna hold of on re-locating. just got too much goin on right now. but, we both want to move eventually, and the help you guys provided means alot!

james

Your boyfriend's wife works at Whole Foods?

Wow....

senor_flojo 12-09-2008 09:51 AM

bf = best friend, fags :p

I concur that $650 for an aprt with a garage isn't very realistic. maybe you can find a roommate and split a house?

Why can't we all just get along. :D How about we start over, Hi James! I'm Chris. Hopefully you might change your mind and move to Austin and have some fun with the great locals around here. See you around!

Chris S 12-09-2008 12:24 PM

Since you've known him since the 1st grade, could he be your BFF? :D
