Ticket - Fight or Lawyer?
Found out just after this cop pulled me over he pulled my friend over going the opposite way for putting on his turn signal 50 ft before the turn instead of 100 ft...
I'm going to talk to JAG on base tomorrow to double check. Thanks guys for the help!

Who is the cop to say that?? At a casual 30mph, a person is traveling 43.8 feet per second. That means the cop is saying he waited TWO SECONDS too long to turn on his turn signal? What if the turn signal didn't illuminate immediately? Some vehicles have a bit of a delay (i.e., my 4Runner's turn signals are also shared with the DRLs during the daytime -- so the DRL has to extinguish and re-light before it can be thought to the casual observer that my turn signal is on). The cycle of a turn signal is probably at least 1 second long, so the cop is saying that your friend turned on his turn signal, at most, ONE SECOND too late? Oh, bring on a jury on that one. Holy crap, that place is corrupt. Some "pigs" don't deserve the badge they wear.
:suprised: omg if that isn't Selma for you idk what is?!? All of my tickets I've ever received were from them or Bexar County. I swear they have nothing better to do that be a pia! I've rolled through SA w/no front license plate and in front of many SAPD not one winked an eyelash. My first time seeing Leon Valley and a Bexar County Sheriff.... I was promptly pulled over!
w/Ricky, some of these guys are just corrupt.

that's Selma cops, try rolling through there daily with a loud ass exhaust
with the insurance and s2200 issue tho, you shouldn't need to worry because having replacement badges and debadging your vehicle is not against the law... their just douch cops that have nothing else to do. on the stop sign ticket you might have to face a fine for it, but really isn't much fighting that... normally those tickets are really cheep! when you go to court give the judge your insurance and say you had it present at time of, as they call it " temporary arrest" but cop failed to recognise the fact and he/she will most likely drop that charge ( never seen it not dropped in my case) but yea get this i was driving from a friends house who lives out there by work, and I'm on a back road so I'm kinda having fun with my baby until my radar goes off so i slow down to speed limit, and as i come around the benge of the road i see three cop patrol cars off to the right of the road and blocking the road all messed up in a way that could have seriously been dangerous.... but i figured it must have been something important, and as I'm passing by i notice that these fools have three kids maybe about 12 all with their hands on the cars and bikes off to the side... i thought seriously, what could 3 12 year old kids have done that was worth the sever treatment of 3 COPS?? ... talk about nothing to do eh! but yea sorry to hear about the cop issue , i really hate getting harassed by them, and good luck as well!

Maybe they were being little trouble-makers and the cops wanted to give 'em a good scare? I know it happened to me in my younger days (making ramps on private property that they were going to build on a few months) and the cops did that to myself and a few buddies, it scared us straight ha ha.
Figured I'd post a closing to the whole issue...
I went to the JAG office on base to today and talked with a lawyer. Heads up for any military guys/gals, the legal assistance at the JAG office cannot help out too much with traffic violations because they are the ones that prosecute your on base traffic tickets - kind of a conflict of interest to give advice on them. However, I did get some good points and went by Selma clerk of court today. They dropped the insurance ticket like I expected. I requested defensive driving for the stop sign ticket which means you pay $107.10 for court fees plus I have to take the defensive driving course within 90 days and the ticket is dismissed (here comes DD Blockbuster rental movie night!). They allow all military this option and if you have an out-of-state drivers license there's no need to show proof of your driving record.
So all in all, TX lawyer wanted $300 to handle my tickets not including DD. I took care of it myself for $107 plus DD.
Lesson learned: I will never move to Selma ever again.
