Top repair in Austin
Has anybody had their top patched in the Austin area? I discovered a small slit (~1/2") in my top just above the top/rear corner of the driver's window. It is not big enough to warrant replacing the whole thing. A few web searches suggested some auto upholstry shops could patch convertible tops. Has anyone done this in Austin?
thanks!

Does the tear look like this ?
This is pretty common for '00-'01 tops with the soft window. It will get worse even with a repair. You could have it patched or buy a replacement top with glass from Robbins for about $500. Cecil's Top Shop does most of the work in Austin. The Robbins replacement is better than OEM and you can install it yourself (8-10 hours) or have Cecil's do it for about $750. I did my own with a Honda glass top but it requires retrofit to the old style frame. The Robbins top comes with everything you need so you don't have to buy additional elastic and nylon straps. You'll need basic hand tools, a drill and an inexpensive pop-rivet gun.
