Drive in Central Texas June 25
June 25th!
**You must RSVP in advance - post a private message to me with your personal email (for security, don’t post it here)**
Get ready for the big one: returning for the 2nd year straight is what we call the Double BBQ Gluttony Drive. That means we'll start by going to two BBQ joints in a row for lunch, then drive about ~120 miles over roads to the south and southwest of Austin. And the week after we'll use a web survey for you to rank each feature of the BBQ (texture, bark, smoke ring, etc.) from the two joints to determine the winner.
This is *not* a performance drive: this is a pleasure drive and will be at or under the speed limit. The idea, like before, is to eat BBQ, and then enjoy some of Central Texas’ best back roads to the south and southwest of Austin.
By popular request we've changed the start, improved the route, shortened it, added two additional gas/bio/rest stops, and we'll end it mid/late afternoon. All the great super-scenic features of the drive last year will still be there including crossing three different Central Texas ecosystems.
Here's what you need for this drive:
Clear your calendar.
Don't eat for a day in advance. Just kidding...
Optional radio on channel 2
Sun lotion
Camera
Hats for convertible owners
Read up on your BBQ terminology and criteria!
Plan for massive exercise regimen over the following two or three weeks...
--------------------------------------
Perfect weather is required... last year we had to reschedule twice because of rain. We'll use your email for all further details and any weather issues.
