Default Anyone familiar with tx state inspection?

apparently the new legal limit on tint is 20% on front windows, woohoo! i did not know this because i completely ****ing forgot about my tint being 20% (old limit used to be 25%) and took it to car spa (convenient and was open on sunday) instead of somewhere in garland where i always used to take it where they wouldnt even measure the windows.

apparently their reader is saying my shit is 17%, which is bs, they put 20% of my car, no reason it should be saying 17%, i doubt they even make a random ass "17%" tint level, it makes no sense, most are in 5% increments

so here's my question... i have 15 days to have it retested there for free and get my sticker. maybe it was operator error, but when i told the prick that did it "i bought 20%, it has to be a mistake" he just laughed and was like OUR METER IS THE SAME THE STATE TROOPER USES, I'VE HEARD THAT BEFORE and just walked off.

so i can take it back and hope someone else is there to retest it or just take it somewhere else where they arent pricks...

i bought 20% and there's no reason it should be reading 17%, should i just take it somewhere else in pleasant grove or do i have to fail the window reading a second time before i can take it somewhere else

alternative is to just scrape the tint off and get it redone again but that'll cost me like $60 + convenience

cliffs: car spa = tint nazis

Not 100% sure on this one, but on an old car of mine i just rolled down the windows, unhooked the switch and drove the car up. They can't test the windows if they're down and they can't roll them back up, you don't legally have to have windows up to pass inspection. Maybe my place was just not wanting to fight about it but it worked for me.

the issue is that windows were the only thing the car failed, so of course if i bring it back all they're going to do is just recheck the windows.

kinda makes no sense, but if this is the case do you know if i can just go to another shop and it not be an issue? or do i have to fail twice, or scrape it off?
