Default Calling all NTS2K DIY car painters

I had a very mild accident about a year ago and screwed up my front bumper a bit, and my wife has had many, many bumps and dings in her TL since we got it, so I'm thinking about getting a paint gun. I have a 30 gallon, 150 PSI compressor, so it doesn't seem like it will be too much of an investment to do it myself. I know Brad Biddel (sp?) painted his car, and did a great job, but who else knows how to paint?

I'm just looking for some advise.

Here is the paint gun I am considering. Is it adequate?

Dang man. I believe in DIY projects, but I'd be afraid to paint my car. But i'm interested in knowing how everything comes out. I have a few paint chips on my front bumper that really ag me.

I will attempt to do just about anything myself at least once. I've had too many bad experiences with auto shops (plus all the stories I hear about here), so it isn't just about me being cheap. I've done quite a few first time DIY projects on my S2000 that have turned out well, so why stop now. Actually, the only person that has worked on my car since I've bought it has been myself and Marcucci. I just don't trust anyone else.

The front bumper on my S2000, and the back bumper on my wife's TL need to be repainted. I figure the rear TL bumper would be pretty safe and easy to start with, since it can be removed from the car easily and doesn't have as much contour. If I screw it up, it can't look much worse than it does now, and if it is really bad, I'll just take it to a pro.

You will need a drier/filter for the gun if you are using an oilless compressor, I can tell you that much.

Do your wife's TL first.

Okay, but I figured it would be the other way around.

When you perfect your skills I will pay you to do my wife's Protege front bumper and the Trooper hood.

"Perfect" skills seem a little beyond my reach. I'm still waiting for some friggin' feedback. I figure I will just buy a spray gun, and start painting cardboard until I feel confident to do the TL bumper. If that goes well, I'm going to paint my whole car baby shit green.
