Default Clear Blue Sky Rally

Lots of people who like cars also like airplanes. If you are one of those, don't miss our next event, the Clear Blue Sky roadrally. The run starts at Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison, where a number of interesting planes are on view. Then, leaving the Addison Airport area, we will travel the byroads of North Texas passing a number of airfields, large and small. You will have some questions to answer along the way. We will end at the Vintage Flying Museum at Meacham International Airport in Fort Worth. Here you and your car will be photographed in front of a WWII B-17 bomber, on the tarmac. You will have plenty of time to see the other planes and attractions at the museum.

After a break for scoring and visiting the museum, trophies will be awarded.

Registration opens: 9 am on Saturday, July 31
Mandatory novice safety briefing at 9:45am, with a rally school immediately following. The first Car will leave the start at 10:31am

The rally flyer has been posted at www.texasscca.org/rally.html . It has more information.

Any need to preregister or anything? What will the pace of the driving be like? My dad would love this but I don't want to give him a heart attack from too fast of a drive.

The rule is to always go at or below the speed limit. You can still have fun in the corners, or not, depending on your passenger. There is enough time allotted to make the end in time, but you will need to keep moving. It's more for fun than performance, but in the right car, any drive can be fun, right?

You preregister by going to www.tinyurl.com/CBS10msr .

Richard,

I've run these and they are a blast. They will not freak your dad out. I'm going to try and make this one myself.

Awesome, thanks Simon. Let me know if you're going on this and we'll have to meet up, it will be a ton of fun. My loves anything that flies so he'd love to talk to you about what you do I'm sure.

It looks like there may be two of you at the Clear Blue Sky Rally. Get one more and you can form "Team 2000" (or whatever) and compete for the team award, last won by Minis, if I remember correctly.

I work for a major defense contractor who builds fighter aircraft. I am lucky to be around the planes a lot. I have been an airplane nut since I was a kid, but sadly do not have a pilot's license. I save all my flying for the Boston Mountain Tour in Arkansas.
