from my understanding its not suppose to yellow, and i believe its a one time deal to.. no replacement required, but the whole thing is pretty expensive.. like 1100 for an s2k.. so im thinking around the same or a little more for an mdx

it's like 200-300 for the front of our cars, from what i've gathered, i'm still waiting for the paint to "cure" on my front bumper before i get that done...

Hopefully a few more people will post up, I remember a couple of conversations regarding 3M vs other clear bras. Various people have had some yellow while others did not. I don't recall which most people agreed was best, but will see if I can search something up...

My friend has one on her 335i that's white and it's been way more trouble than it's worth. Bugs getting splattered on it makes it yellow, and it's turned yellow a bit and it's just a year old. I think she has 3m but I'm not sure.

OK, quick search returned lots of stuff!
There are quite a few threads regarding install and quality, especially in the Wash and Wax forum, here's a thread for starters...

You might also just run a search in Wash and Wax Forum

Is it what it sounds like, I.E. a series of plastic film pieces that go onto the front?
-Yes, usually a few pieces of clear plastic film that covers the paint. Can be on the front, sides and back

Does it work well?
-Yes, very

Does it need to be replaced every couple of years?
-Depends, if you drive a lot of highway and get stone chips etc. Generally if you maintain it with some kind of plastic cleaner or wax it it should last a while

As it will be going onto a white vehicle, will it tend to

Lamin-X sells pre-cut kits if you find your own installer. Supposedly Llumar's product guarantees no yellowing for a certain period of time. It's advertised as optically clear also. I've seen it only once on 60N5.5's car a few years ago, it seemed like a nice product. I think it was $850 ish installed on a S2000.

A sincere thanks for everyone's replies.

Given all the facts as presented I think I'll just go with the factory vinyl bra. Yeah, it looks goofy, especially on white, but it will do the job nicely. I am only concerned when on longer trips and will install it when needed.

Again ... thanks....
