damn theives broke into my car!
 

As I left my house around 7pm my mom saw a couple young mexican guys holding a baseball bat walking down the street but i didn't think anything of it...when i got home, (10pm) I found my driver side windows busted. The only thing they took was my radar detector which was hardwired with a telephone wire which they managed to yank out too. Breaking my rear view mirror as well. Called the police for them to file a report. Pretty much knew this was coming out of my pocket since my deductible is $1000.

The story is not quite over, I went to the car wash to get everything cleaned, as i put down my top it didn't open all the way..tried it numerous times then finally forced it down hearing a clunk noise. Weird this never happened before. So when i closed the top i saw a 3 inch slit on the top right where the latch was at.. Now I'm starting to get furious. Now im wondering if they were laying on top of my convertible trying to reach the radar? Forgot to mention I DIDN'T EVEN LOCK MY DOORS.


I would like some opinion on what to do...should i file this with insurance? I don't even have a grand right now for deductible.

thats what happened when my top got slashed...they only took my radar detector...

my deductible was $500, and insurance estimated about $1500 (wouldn't take radar detector into account, said that would be under homeowner's/renter's insurance)

so since you need top replaced and window, maybe that'd be 1800 or so? not sure about window...

sucks dude...good luck...

but if they broke the whole top assembly, insurance should pay for that, too, and then it might be worth filing, since you can just get that on the cheap

yeah..my radar was mount high on my windshield near the rear view mirror. i don't think they opened my door cause when i opened it the glass fell down..someone must have had small hands to fit it in that tiny slash on the top.

im not sure if im gonna be able to make it to austin now =(

I would try to get as much covered by insurance as possible. Sucks the deductible is so high too...
