To quote DaddyZ - "When tomauto planned the BMT route from Sherman, TX to Eureka Springs, AR the best experience I had was the trip actually getting to the BMT not the BMT itself."
The roads that this drive are on pieces of this same route. Some say that these roads are hands down better than the Texas Hill Country Drives everyone raves about between Austin and San Antonio. These roads are also comparable to roads found on the now famous Semi-Annual Boston Mountain Tour.

This roadway is probably the only route in Oklahoma where you can drive from an elevation of 274 feet to an elevation of 2,600 feet in a distance of less than 100 miles. A traveler can look up and experience mountain elevations of 2,400 feet (Black Fork Mountain) on one side, and elevations of 2,600 feet (Rich Mountain) on the other for almost ten miles. The pine-oak forests, the east-west facing Ouachita Mountain Range and the Black Fork River Valley region of the Kiamichi Country are unlike any other regions in Oklahoma.

Thanks for posting Tom. I did this drive a few years back and really enjoyed it. It is definitely closer than a Texas hill country drive. Depending on work, I may make this drive.

Bobby do you want to go to the Talimena site on Friday after our court appearance then Saturday morning drive on the Indian hwy and 259 before the BMW group shows up?
The BMW group is going to stay at the campsite on top of the Queen Wilihema on Saturday night but I'll be going home before sunset though so I can get to work on Sunday.

Tom ....... I will be coming from the Branson MO Z Fest. I am driving either my S2000 or 911 since my SMZ is down until I find a new set of heads for it. I am going up on Wednesday, and returning Saturday morning or Friday night depending on you. I don't think we will have to actually make the court appearance, since it is just a formality to plead innocent. The actual court date will be set later in the year. I wouldn't mind camping in our old spot Friday night if time permits.
