Heading to S.Padre this weekend
I posted this in the Houston forums, but it didn't occur to me until now, that folks up in our neck of the woods may have some great insight as well.
I've never been, so I was hoping to get the inside scoop from any locals or folks who frequent the area regarding restaurants, pubs, things-to-do, etc.
And it doesn't have to be limited to the island. If you've got some info. on anything in Port Isabel, Laguna Heights, Laguna Vista, etc. Let me know.
Thanks in advance.

I think most of the Island consists of restaurants and pubs. I don't remember of any names or specifics, but most of the restaraunts I have been to on the Island are top notch.
It wouldn't be very hard to find something you might like either, there are only two roads for you to explore.
As for things to do, you can go deep sea fishing, all sorts of water sports, the beach of course, and drive another 30 minutes to Mexico. Have fun and be safe!

Thanks to everyone who responded. Wife and I had an absolute blast.
Lonestar, we actually stayed a condo owned by my wife's boss. It's probably one of the older ones on the island, so if I had a choice I'd probably look elsewhere.
Day 1:
Ate at Blackbeard's for lunch ... awesome burger.
Ate at Scampi's for dinner. Probably had one of the best crab cakes I've ever eaten. And their peanut butter shrimp (which they're supposedly known for) was excellent.
Day 2:
Ate at Yummie's for breakfast. Terrific baked goods.
Ate at Amberjack's for lunch. Also a great crab cake.
Wish we could have stayed longer, but I thing we squeezed all the fun we could out the trip.
