I don't do track days because....

I just dont have the time. There was a lot of time in the past however I was young with no money. The closest I've ever been to the track was being apart of my friends pit crew for SCCA typically at College station. He raced in the ITS class. His father worked for American Airlines as a pilot so there wasn't much time with his son other than doing what he loves which is race! At that time, I owned a 2001 Integra Type R. Type R #34 ........
Nowadays, it's a bit harder to find time. I'm a senior banker for Chase so I tend to close the branch often and now moving into the management role, I am trying to work 6 days a week. After hours, I practice brazilian jiujitsu.

I've tracked my Sky one time, a couple summers ago at Harris Hill. Haven't had the time/money since then, but that may be changing before too long, since now I work 3 1/2 days a week and make more than I've made anywhere before. So hopefully next year I'll be able to get out on a track again. I've done auto-x quite a bit, but it's just not the same.

Dang another previous Type R owner on here. I really miss mine a lot. My Type R was totalled 3 months after he purchased it. I was at a couple of Expo's actually. Are you refering to the ones in Houston?

After doing the Toy Run at ECR this past weekend, I definitely see the appeal of tracking. No work assignments, a LOT more seat time, wheel to wheel action etc. BUT... I found that I was checking my brakes after every session, (heard about infamous cracking rotors) and my stock pads were almost gone.
To do things "right," I figure:
6-700 for rotors and pads(reoccurring every 3-4 events)
Increased oil, trans, brake, diff fluid change intervals
225 entry fee per event (for novice)
I sound anal, but that's a grand just to get started for the 1st event... That money would pay a year's worth of Autox (while being gentler and safer for the car).
S2Ks are getting cheaper and shifting to a younger demographic. I think most would rather spend their money on mods that they can see, enjoy everyday (on or off track) and retain some of their resale value... rather than consumables that vanish into thin air.
TL;DR version: It's pretty expensive to properly maintain a track car. Plus, my S is a DD and I don't like the wear/tear and the risk.

You are right about some of this, however, the S has actually increased in value!

This year I havent been out as much as I would have liked, and when I did, I was trying to get a base line for some before and after lap times for my Miata project.
Next year I should be able to make most events, but I will probably be in the Miata working out bugs.
@brandondan1:
I run Carbotech brake pads. Usually $300 for a full set and they will last 6-7 track days (full year). That with Motul brake fluid will be all you will need for a worry free trackday.
And I have run off course MANY times at MSR, ECR, and HHR and have never had an issue with damage. The tracks around here have very flat(with a few exceptions) run-off areas where you can go off safely and be ok. See Video
