Default Magnaflow mufflers on stock mid-pipe

I'm considering having my OEM exhaust modified so that the mufflers are single pass instead of triple pass. It doesn't look like a difficult job (in theory), but I'd want it done well so that I don't lose power. Does anyone have any recommendations for a welder or shop?

BTW, I admit this is totally for sound. I really don't like the way it sounds now.

Thanks to some pictures from rjones of the internal design of the stock mufflers, I've totally changed my mind about modifying them. I now want to just replace them with some single pass mufflers (Magnaflow, Borla, etc.). I still need a welder, so any suggestions?

FWIW, the Comptech exhausts (if you like how those sounded) used a Dynamax Ultraflow muffler can. They're cheap, straight-thru, reasonably damped, and flow well. I'd give those a shot.

Try Pronto in Plano. On Central, just south of Park (I think) on the East side.

Removing the resonator will give you more sound than removing the loops.

I had them adjust my Spugen because it was rubbing before the split. Very nice guys and reasonable.

I already have a test pipe, and didn't really notice much change in sound. I don't know why I didn't think about cutting out the stock resonator, but after seeing the insides of the stock mufflers, I'm sure I want to replace them.

I started a thread about this in Modifications and Parts (here).

I'll have to do some measurements, but it looks like these would be a good fit for my '08. I don't know what labor will cost, but these items look like they would be about $250 shipped from Amazon. I'll check into Dynomax, as Ryan suggested.

BTW, here are the pictures of the inside of the OEM mufflers that rjones sent me. I'm surprised they perform as well as they do.

Here is the CR muffler:
