Your fears are well-founded, but what's more important, the health of the platform or the health of the community? I set up a FB page for a dirt biking club I participated in back when I was in Austin, and it has more members than were ever on the forum. Turnout for events if anything only increased, b/c FB was a more effective way of reaching people. Sometimes it's more effective to go where the people are, as opposed to expecting them to come to where you are. Just submitted my request to join.

Any event that get posted here I post up on the FB with a link to the forum and any event that gets created on the FB I will post up in here also
