N. TX Facebook Group

Here is the link to the group page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/215894868534689/

The name is North Texas s2ki. This way we can refer new people to the Facebook group and the forum without them having to remember different names.

For now we'll keep it a closed group so we don't have random people joining up like Matt said. Let me know if you have any ideas, suggestions, comments, etc.

Definitely interested. Much easier to keep in touch and set up events. Our DFW5.0 forum was pretty dead but the Facebook was super active with almost everyone in the group. I was actually going to post this same thing this week to gauge interest lol

Should I set it up as closed, where people have to be accepted into it, or open, where anyone can join?

S2KI is already very quiet, especially those forums that used to be heavily visited. I fear this will make a less visited site even more desolate.

I say add it but as a closed group. This way you can verify they are a member or own an s and not some hondatech kids looking for victims! The facebook sites would make it a little easier to sell things also.

I understand where you're coming from, I've noticed this trend as well. But on the other hand, a Facebook group would help keep those who don't regularly visit the site informed, as well as keeping everyone in touch in the event that s2ki really begins to decline (which I definitely do not want, this site has been a huge help to me).

My take on things:

S2KI does well=> technical research, how to, classifieds

Facebook will do well=> anything social (pictures, setting up meetings, general conversation, etc.)

Forums used to do social very well, but I think Facebook has taken that over mostly. I am not a Facebook regular, but I have to admit that many social stuff is on Facebook.

If I run into 10 S2K drivers on the street in the Dallas area, almost all of them say they are NOT on S2Ki, but used to be "back in the day".

I've created the group and edited my original post with a link to the group.
