That's the non SC version. There will be a 400 hp version to come. Still not my cup of tea though.
I know, I was just comparing it to other 3.5L engines available in the market today. Theirs is underpowered by comparison.

Yep. 2GR-FE. 280HP on 91. Not bad.

Wish it was the 2GR-FSE from the IS350 315 HP.

I bet you were up until you had to use the pedal in the middle.
Pretty much. Unfortunately, while Toyota makes the engine, Lotus made the brakes. British engineering and all that...

In truth, I wasn't overwhelmed by the Elise driving experience. It was very nimble, but the acceleration didn't exactly overwhelm me. Much like the S2000 and the RX-8, it has an extremely narrow powerband. Yes, it's faster than my car, and on paper it's faster than an E46 M3 or a 350Z, etc., but because those cars have more torque they feel faster.

Between that, the crappy "ice mode" brakes, the resonances in the cabin at speed, and the overall fragility (not build quality) of the car, it's just not my cup of tea. Some people love 'em, and that's great. I'm not one of those people.

Actually Brembo and AP racing make the brakes. Don't think either of them are at fault though. It's the ABS module (which is definitely not made by Lotus). The few people that unplug the module have experienced no instances of ice mode.

It's pretty common to see other Engine's in high end cars these days. A lot of people forget Lotus is an engineering company first, car company after. Why make your own engine if it's not your forte? Sourcing the engine from Toyota keeps the cots down, and improves reliability.

There's an Audi V10 in the Lambo Gallardo BTW. MB's V12 is in the Zonda F, Audi V8 in the Spyker C8, A GM ecotec in the Ariel Atom. So I don't think it's a big deal a toyota motor finds it's way into a Lotus. If it's the same 3.5L motor that's in the IS350, that's a hell of a motor.
Also, the twin-turbo Ford V6 in the Noble. GM engines in the Ultima. (Although those are more kit cars than production vehicles, so perhaps they don't count.)

Oh, and the Ferrari engines in the Maseratis.

Regarding the Evora, I think it looks great. What's the weight?

Speaking of Lotus, I saw this lady driving an Elise on GWB on Friday (I think it was Friday) but she was quite older, white hair and granny glasses. I couldn't help but think she was younger just in disguise or something but she was flying through traffic. I quite following once she passed 85 with no indication she was planning on slowing down.

Sort of heavy but this one has a nice interior and more gizmos. Also considering the market it's fairly light for a 2+2 GT car. Most the cars in that arena are close to 3,600 pounds.
