S2Kers: I want to alert you to an Open Track event coming up at Texas World Speedway April 21-22, run by The Drivers Edge. This is your chance to drive as fast as you have the ability to drive in 8 25-minute sessions over the course of the weekend. You will also have a dedicated instructor so that you can learn how to drive properly at high speed on this very fast ex-NASCAR track. See the layout of the track here: http://www.texasworldspeedway.com/ - we are using the 2.9 mile course.
Besides being run by a very experienced group of folks, the best advantage to The Driver's Edge group is that it is "multi-denominational". You won't find a (for example) Porsche-only attitide, there are purposely and expressly all brands represented and no clear majority between them. That means you will have access to the most experienced set of instructors there are, and that you will not be subject to the asburdly stupid "Porsche method" that forces you into lines designed for tail-happy 911 around the tracks - as you would in many P-clubs. Also, unlike the P-club at TWS, the track will not be overcrowded with hundreds of cars. So you won't be distracted and you can have some fun learning how to exploit the best performance attributes of your S2K.
I'll be there as an instructor and with my own S2K, and our chief instructor is a huge S2K proponent! April is a great month to do an event like this, it's miserably hot later in the year and your car will be in peak form now.
More details at http://www.thedriversedge.net and we can discuss the club and preparation for the event here! See my site for pics and writeup from the last event!!

Jeff,
I'm real interested in participating. However, your website is still set up for the February event. Will all of the specifics be the same? Additionally, a buddy is interested in participating, but drives a 95 300z. Is this a S2000 event only?
Many thanks.

Sure, it's tight with Ashville, but this is a *real* driver's event, flat out on the track. It's a very different type of event than is Ashville.

I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think more than 20 per class. 4 classes + 1 for the instructors. This - unlike some other groups - will NOT be a "crammed" event.
See http://www.thedriversedge.net for complete details!

I am game. I plan on signing up.. is anyone doing courtesy (or cheap and quick) inspections in the Dallas area? Or can I get one at the track? Hate to spend the time and money to get one from Honda.
I did talk to Rick and will get an inspection at MM, one of the recommended shops. This does get a bit more expensive than the JEH events.. $275 to sign up and $46 for an inspection..
