Painting Brake Calipers

Yeah I had seen someone else put the decal there, and I liked it much better. Makes a big difference in giving the car that extra little something. I'm very happy with the results.

Epoxy
Pros:
- Cheaper than powder coating
- Can be done with brakes still on the car
- Does not require rebuilding brakes
Cons:
- Not as durable as powder coating
- Coating not as "thick" so it doesn't cover all imperfections
- Can be a time consuming process, especially if you want to remove the casting marks
Powder Coating
Pros:
- Very durable coating, should last the life of the car
- Coating is thick and covers up most of the casting marks and imperfections on the caliper
Cons:
- Easily triple the price of epoxy
- Brakes have to be rebuilt due to the fact that to powder coat the brakes they have to be "baked" which will damage the seals, etc.

Thank you!
Yeah, they came out great. Quite a bit of work to get them to that point, but I am very satisfied with the results. Did you paint them, or was it the previous owner? If it was you, what did you use?

Yeah, I had painted them with high temp caliper paint from Autozone. They looked good for about 6 months then began to chip. I was going to have them powder coated but never got around to it. You did a great job with them and it looks like they will last for quite a while. Proper prep is crucial and it sounds like you did an excellent job with the prep.
