Default S2000 and a PWC?

So, I saw one of the banner ads advertising this trailer hitch for an S2000. Looks pretty straight forward to install. So I'm wondering, could an S safely pull a personal water craft with the S? Anyone else done this and if so, how far did you drive with the trailer? Any problems at the boat launch?

Not sure how much they weigh, but I'd think it's do-able. People tow tire-trailers w/ tools on it to autocrosses all the time with no problem.

I'm not sure about launching the thing, but I know there was at least one person on here (gernby) that towed an actual boat and launched it with his S2000. He didn't seem to have any problems.

^ Yeah, you definitely want to make sure you have some good tread on your rear tires. And watch out for moss.

Oh, here's the link to gernby's thread. It blew up pretty big w/ people calling him an idiot, but if you can get past that, there's some pretty interesting discussion in there:

The owners manual specifically states that the car is not designed to tow. The car and its frame may be capable of handling it temporarily, but it is not strong enough or designed to pull a trailer, and any damage caused by pulling a trailer would be Honda's way of weaseling out of their warranty obligations.

@mxt_77

Thanks for the link, that was an interesting article. For what I'm wanting to do with a PWC, I think the incline might be the only issue but a small one at that.

Trailer hitch + Tranny/Drivetrain issues = SOL with Warranty claims. If they even see it on the car that's what'll happen. Car wasn't designed to tow. Even if you can - it wasn't engineered for it. Good luck.

Even though a PWC is small, they weigh alot - 800-1000# on average full of gas, not including the trailer (~300#).

The average 20' boat will weigh ~2800# boat + ~1200# trailer

No trailering for me, I dont have the wallet for it. For me, the S has a purpose and it does it well and I'll leave it at that.
