talk me out of it
Ok, so I'm considering trading my S for a new Pontiac G8 GT...it's a bad idea, but the G8 is just so fast and nice and roomy...
I need more reasons to solidify why I shouldn't trade my S...they've made it REALLY tempting with the rebates and 0%...but it's still no S2000...
I keep thinking that the ONLY thing that I would enjoy actually DRIVING more than the S2000 would be a Lotus Elise or Exige...but why am I so tempted to buy this G8? If I were in a position to where I needed a 4 door, it would be a no brainer...but since I'm not, I need to talk myself out of buying it. Damn that new car smell!

if you're going to go for that kind of car, get the GXP, i bet you can get it for barely more than the GT after all the rebates and everything
i hate buying new cars and will never do that again, but in a couple years i might try to pick up a used GXP, they are sweet cars for the money

For me it comes down to top down driving. If you love the topless experience, it will be hard finding any hard top car (even a Z06, Exige, GT-R, etc.) that can replace the S.
The Pontiac has several things going for it however: Torque, hp, very good performance numbers, a proven drive train, easily tunable, new. I like new. I like controlling how a car is broken in and a car under warranty.

You might want to reconsider buying a soon to be extinct product. When the plug is finally pulled on the Pontiac brand don't think that your car will become vintage become more valuable.
There's plenty of other performance sedans to consider in that price range. Hell, a used M5 is in that territory, as is a E55.
